The short film is the result of an experimental exploration of the marionette play König Hirsch (1918) by students taking the Cinematic Narration in Virtual Spaces course at the Zurich University of the Arts. Generated entirely on the computer, it shows how digital tools can be used to find personal forms of artistic expression in virtual space. With the help of motion capture, students slipped into 3D models of self-designed characters or operated virtual cameras and created digital lighting moods. From: Museum für Gestaltung

Starting at the beginning of the fourth semester, we were given several inputs, including presentations about filmic spaces, game spaces, and script writing. At the end of the semester we then voted for the most appealing pitch, which was then refined over three weeks and eventually turned into the film as shown in the museum during a relatively short timespan of three additional weeks. My role as producer was to plan and distribute the workload among the students and coordinating regular meetups. I also did some modelling work in the meantime.
The film is on display at the Museum für Gestaltung in Zurich as part of the exhibition "Museum of the Future" from August 29, 2025 to February 1, 2026.
